![]() I've seen way more tires killed by too low inflation than too high inflation. Alignment is within specs with slight negative camber QUESTION: At less than 10 mph, the tires sound like a tank at highway speeds it. Designed to balance exceptional off-road capability with on-road performance and aggressive styling, this tire comes complete with Duragen Technology, which provides robust strength and durability. I ran the Grabber X3 red letter in 35's on my fullsize Ram (that I traded in for the gladiator) and while they were great in the muddy cornfield and wheat fields for waterfowl hunting and deer hunting, they had not so nice road manners in the slushy snowy pavement intersections and wet raining roads. It is a used 2018 with 35x12.5x17 grabber X3 tires. Tires with higher inflation pressures will use a more robust reinforcements, in the tread area, heavier steel cord, more cord ends per inch, etc to allow higher inflation pressures without distorting the tread area and maintain a good level of bruise resistance. The Grabber A/TX is an aggressive, all-season all-terrain tire for light trucks and SUVs. The General Grabber sound wave suppression works to reduce road noise but still delivers high levels of off-road traction. The higher psi will cause the tread area to balloon out in the center of the tread although not visibly, over time/miles making the tire wear in the center. At the higher psi the ability to absorb shock is reduced increasing the risk of cord damage internally. The two areas that I would be most concerned with is the reduced bruise resistance & crowning in the tread area. So the tire isn't just going to blow up by exceeding 35psi by a little (how much is a little?). ![]() Having said that, tire pressures increase with heat generated rolling down the road, so you'll see an increase in the tire pressure after driving, that will vary depending on how long you've driven, how fast, etc. I could go bigger to 235's with them, but that's pushing it in my estimation.Well I would hate to tell you NO PROBLEM given someone with a masters degree in engineering ultimately decided that the tire you're asking about should have a max (cold) inflation of 35psi. As I've said, they no longer make the AT's in 225/70/16. The AT's were great and provided excellent traction in wet, on gravel (I drive on a lot of gravel), in snow and did very well on the highway. I'm seriously in need of tires for my red Element as the Bridgestone Dueller AT's are worn to the point it is time. Red letter sidewall styling is available in select sizes and is derived from Grabber off-road racing tires and affixed to the tire as a vulcanized label that requires special care and can be damaged by contact with curbs and off-road hazards. I'm not sure going to such a drastic mud tire is the way for me, but it is a cool look. ![]() Get a "look" that beefs up things for that rugged appearance.
